Holiday in Hawaii

We really enjoyed our holiday in the Hawaiian Islands. Honolulu and Waikiki were very glamourous and glitzy like Surfers Paradise. Kuaii was much quieter and the beaches were beautiful. I loved the seawater there - it was lovely and warm and the most beautiful colours.

We were visiting at the wrong time of year for the big waves but I liked to swim in the flat and calm water. John took lots of pictures and I will post some if can, so we can all share the beauty of the islands. I have chosen a photo of the view from our hotel room at the Hilton which is at the far end of Waikiki.

We went on a bus trip to the famous Sunset Beach where the huge waves come in during the winter months. Just down the road was Turtle Beach and the big turtles just swim about ignoring the pesky humans. We could see them without even getting out of the bus.

Do you remember the Beach Boys surfing songs and the famous Waimea Bay? We went there as well.

We spent a day at Pearl Harbour visiting the Arizona Memorial. It is very moving. Reading the names of the dead on the wall at the memorial had me in tears.

I would like to go back to Hawaii and next time go to Maui and the Big Island. But that will have to wait because there are lot of other places I have to visit first.

Still waiting

Still waiting for some pics of Hawaii to appear on the Blog from Mum and Dad's trip. Hopefully we'll get to see how good Dad's new toy is! C'mon guys! Get it happening!
